Soooo here it goes. My little experiment. We, at the Phillips house, are working VERY hard to own at least 20% of our house by September. In order to do that we are going to really have to work for it. So that's what we have been doing.
It is our second mortgage that we transferred to an unsecured loan from a credit union that has us about $7500 in debt as of today. We have already chopped 15 years off our primary mortgage. Yay to my husband for being incredibly clever and pulling that one off! I think he's pretty amazing!!! OK back to the story. D and I have been HATING debt thanks to Dave Ramsey. Go check out his website... like NOW. He has some very practical advice on the matter of debt and while he has A LOT of money he chooses to use his time to help people get out of debt. A rare bird in my book.
Soooo in an effort to demolish our debt I am having a little experiment in our family. I have the task of handling our groceries and inspired by The Cheapskate Cook, I am trying to eat healthy, whole foods on $25 a week. I'll do a little post about my progress each week and post my findings.
Week 1
March 1-6
Oganic Eggs
Brown Rice - 6 lbs
Jarred Red Bell Pepper
Whole Chicken
Sweet Clemintines - 3 lbs
Organic Salad Greens
Celery
Cucumber
Total Spent: $26.29
Tu - Cuban Beans & Rice
W - Leftovers
Th - Frozen Pizza
F - Roasted Rosemary Chicken
Sa - Chicken Noodle Soup or Chicken Enchiladas
Su - Leftovers

I went over $1.29. Insert sad face! I worked really hard and I went over. Arg! I'm not going to let it stop me before I have even really started. Sooo I'm just working with $1.23 less next week.
So THAT'S just how I see it... a phillipsology.
